The Dogs Trust say that 20 dogs a day are being put down by local authorities across the country. Although there is many animals being abandoned and harmed, there is also a lot of society's helping and taking in a lot of animals. The ISPCA (The Irish society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) is Ireland's largest national animal welfare charity. The members of the society help, rescue, treat and responsibly re-home tens of thousands of animals of all different species. They prevent cruelty to animals, promote animal welfare and pro-actively relief animal suffering in Ireland. They believe that animals have the right to live their lives free from needless suffering.
I think if everyone just becomes that little more aware of animal cruelty a lot more could be done and it could be prevented. It is happening everyday in our local towns and cities whether we know it our not. Even a simple donation can go a long way for a harmless animal suffering without a home.
