are we born good or bad?

I don’t think we are born completely good or bad, but it is the people closest to us as babies/toddlers who help shape us into the person we become, up to a certain age that is. As babies we are completely dependent on our parents and because babies learn by mimicking the actions of those around us, it is our parents who introduce us to the idea that there are good or bad actions which can be taking.

I believe everyone is born with an equal chance of becoming a good or bad and yes as babies it is our parents/guardians who will bring out the good or bad within us, but as we get older and start to develop our own sense of morality, that’s when we choose whether we will become a good or a bad person. For example, even if a child is raised to believe that violence is an acceptable solution to a problem, as we grow up and meet different people we should be able to tell that violence isn’t always going to solve all our problems. As soon as we have been exposed to another way of thinking, it then becomes the person’s decision to stick to what he/she has grown up to believe is acceptable or to change his/her mind.

Unfortunately some people are so brain washed into thinking that certain ways are good and bad that no will be able to change their minds, their sense of morality is wiped and that usually doesn’t have a good outcome, luckily enough though most of us will have the choice to become who we want, and it is the paths we choose which determine whether we are good or bad, after all we are born innocent and pure with no idea what right or wrong means.
