In the final year of school the most highly ranked girls become companions and are awarded by living with their husbands to breed sons. But before they turn 40 they're killed off, as their age is makes them no longer desirable. The girls who didn't really make the cut will become concubines and are essentially the mistresses who specialise in sexually serving men. And girls left over become chastities who are made infertile, have their hair shaved off and bring up the next generation of girls to be judged and labelled just like they were.
I could relate to characters in this book because something seemed familiar. The girls wake every morning and their weight, skin, hair, and personality are changed until the 'perfect' woman is made. They're forced to judge each other constantly and are left illiterate as they have no need for a proper education, while young boys are encouraged to do whatever or be whoever they want with no judgement. It became very clear that this wasn't fiction but a different view on our reality...........and that's not a good thing.
