It's all very stereo typical these days. From what we watch on the television, there seems to be a big difference in the capacity of a male's stomach to a female's stomach. They show a couple going into a restaurant, the man will order a starter, main-course, and two desserts, while the woman will have a side salad.. with nothing on the side. I must completely disagree. I sometimes think that my very own stomach is a bottomless pit.
Adding to that everyone is gone crazy with this 'calories' business. We seem to be checking how many calories are in a chocolate bar than the actual price. And when you go order your 'Big Mac' , extra chips and large coke, they give you a list of how many calories are in each individual meal on the back of the tray - just to let you know what crap you're eating. To be honest, I think it shows how little you care about what you're eating just by walking in the door of MacDonalds.
Go back to the old days where a 'slim looking' woman would pass by, and you're granny would just say 'Oh Lord, doesn't she look miserable, she could hide behind the handle of the sweeping brush'. It's this look that we are told to want , to be the size zero. To be quite frank, there are people out there doing a lot worse to themselves, than having one or two chocolate digestives with a cup of tea!
Also our eating timetable isn't helping either. Getting up, eating a slice of toast then running for the bus. Your breakfast has been burned off before you even get to school. For lunch, you're sitting there with a miserable oul apple and a pack of tayto when your friend has a jam-packed lunchbox with a homemade sandwich that their mother made 'just for them'. So then for the rest of the day your stomach is literally stuck to your back. And just for the craic, when you're in class, your stomach decides to sing a little song for the whole class, and the teacher!
So forget 'You Are What Your Eat' - besides you'll always need a bit of extra insulation for the winter!
